Pigeon Forge is a popular destination in Tennessee, known for its excellent amusement parks and other tourist attractions. However, there are plenty of hidden gems in the area that are worth exploring too. Here are some of the lesser-known spots that you should check out on your next trip to Pigeon Forge:
1. The Old Mill
The Old Mill is an iconic spot in Pigeon Forge that has been around since the 1800s. It is a working mill that still produces flour and cornmeal. You can even take a tour to see how it all works. The Old Mill also has a restaurant where you can enjoy delicious Southern cuisine. The food is fantastic and I wouldn’t be surprised if you go home with the next day’s lunch too.
2. The Island
The Island is a newer attraction in Pigeon Forge, but it’s still a hidden gem. It is a shopping and entertainment complex that features a variety of unique shops, restaurants, and attractions. You can ride the Great Smoky Mountain Wheel, which offers stunning views of the surrounding area.
3. Smoky Mountain Alpine Coaster
If you’re looking for an adrenaline rush, head to the Smoky Mountain Alpine Coaster. This coaster is a unique experience that takes you on a thrilling ride through the mountains. You control the speed, so you can make it as fast or slow as you want. There are several of these in the Smoky’s but this one is our favorite and also the longest track.
4. The Comedy Barn
The Comedy Barn is a hilarious show that features comedy, magic, and music. It’s a great way to spend an evening with family and friends, and it’s a hidden gem that not many tourists know about.
5. The Great Smoky Arts & Crafts Community
The Great Smoky Arts & Crafts Community is a group of artisans who create beautiful handmade crafts. You can visit their shops and studios to see how they make their products and purchase unique souvenirs to take home. Make sure to check out the Gatlinburg calendar as well because you can also check out craft shows when they are in town.
6. NASCAR SpeedPark
While driving through town you will see various billboards for go cart tracks but you won’t find any that provide the value or as many hours of fun as the NASCAR SpeedPark. The main difference is that you buy a day pass instead of just one ride so you can try several tracks for all ages for just one very reasonable price.
These are just a few of the hidden gems in Pigeon Forge that are worth checking out. While the popular attractions are certainly worth visiting, these lesser-known spots offer a unique and authentic experience that you won’t want to miss.
